Image from the Day

Salmonberry

Salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis) blooming along Pacific Crest Trail. Imagine a deeper darker richer pink than this photo. Petals stay open for a day or two, then let go and flutter to the ground. The berry forms similar to a raspberry, turning yellowy-orange, then translucent red.

Clear blue sky. My day with bright peaks, pikas, winter wrens, the cool exhalations of ancient trees. Many shades of sun-drenched green. Flowers. Rushing water, melting snow, summer.
